I saw your story about Matt Kenny from Racal when I did a search on him this morning, after I passed a biker on a Harley that looked like Matt this morning.
I was with Racal Milgo from 85' to 93' in various positions. I left as the Senior Sales Engineer in Government Systems.
Matt was a good friend. I met him when I went to the Harrison Park HQ for New hire training. I was in the cafeteria going through the lunch line wearing jeans and a Harley T-shirt when Matt walked up behind me in the lunch line, and struck up a conversation with me about Harleys.
As we talked over lunch, it got close to the time I was supposed to be back in Gene Allen's class, and Matt said "Don't worry about it - I know Gene, it will be fine if you are a bit late". At that time I had no idea what Matt's position was at Racal.
After a few more minutes (with me growing more concerned about being late back to class), Matt said "Come on, I'll walk you back to class". As I entered the class room, Gene was about to lower the boom on me, when Matt walked in behind me, and Gene's entire demeanor changed! Gene said "Class, we are honored to have our CEO Matt Kenny in class today!"
I turned around and looked at Matt with a "shit eating grin on his face" and he said "Gottcha!" and patted me on the back.
Matt and I became great friends, and he even arranged for me to come down to Florida for "training" a couple of times during the Daytona Bike week, and loaned me one of his Harleys to ride up to Daytona for the event. I will always have a warm spot in my heart for Matt.

I agree with some of the points. Kids do seem less educated than in the past but the teachers I know are working their butts off to teach them. All the while we're being told what we do isn't good enough and we should work harder, learn more and teach better. It's disheartening and very exhausting! Kids and parents should have more responsibility in this too! Maybe we need to think about new ways to effectively deliver education and the skills young people need. Government backing with money to support this would be helpful. I also think that as a country need to have a renewed commitment to educating our children.

I found your example about how Scotland Yard trains people to identify counterfeit currency very interesting. Certainly this example can be applied to other areas as you demonstrated. Its a very interesting way to look at things.

The Kairos #45 team is composed of twenty-four special gentlemen.
Each of the twenty-four has a special place in my heart, and serving the Kairos team is an honor. Thank you.
